What is the rotation of the distributor, clock wise or counter clock wise ? Also does anyone have a picture of the cap with number 1 in the proper place. thanks for any help.

#1 on cap depends on how distributor was installed. It may be anywhere around the full 360 degree circle. It will be found by where rotor is pointing when you rotate engine to TDC-compression stroke .

Distributor rotation is clockwise. The distributor cap usually has a number "1" stamped on it and it is normally set in about the 7 to 8 o'clock position, providing the distributor is setting in the proper position so as the dust cap reading and arrow are point toward the oiler as described on the dust cap
