*C202825* is a 1968 serial number. It has the double reduction rear axle of the 4000 series, and the single sided steering system of the 4000 series with a single steering cylinder on the left side above the track rod, so my bet would be a regular 4000, as a 4400 or 4500 would have the cylinder under the nose, out of sight in those pictures, and a 4000 SU would have the double sided steering like the 2000/3000 series.

So it looks like a 1968 4000 ag chassis model to me.

It's not a 4000SU, wrong front bolster.
The large planetary rear axle and inboard wet brakes identify it as a 4000 series but the loader and what looks like 24" rear wheels make me think it's a industrial model, although the steering and front hub appear to be standard 4000 ag
There's 2 more sets of numbers and letters on the flat area behind where the starter bolts on, the loader frame makes them hard to see but that id's the model and build date of the tractor.
They are located behind the C202825 serial number you listed which indicates it's a 68 model, grill shell is for a 65- early 68 model.
From what I can see of the intake and battery tray I think its a diesel but more photos of the right side of the engine would help.
Photos of the steering and front axle would also help to ID the tractor.

i dont think i found more numbers near starter. I did find on on the loader arm. Stering is only from one side. Took a bunch more photos

Nope. It has either an adjustable swept axle or a cast non adjustable arch axle like a 3400. Single external PS cylinder. Gotta be some obscure Industrial derivative or a mutt.

I agree the bolster and double reduction
rear make you want to call it a 4000.
But a 4000 with 24s on the rear would look
a lot more like it's going uphill all the
time. That one looks pretty level.
Take a photo of the front axle.

Their there, you may have to scrap or wire brush the area, some of the numbers are on the rougher casting behind the machined flat.

After looking at the additional pictures, I'll stick with my 4000 label. '65 -'69 models had the single external steering cylinder, which this one definitely has.

In the top photo I can make out the first part of the model numbers

4101??
4 = 4000
10 = all purpose
1 = diesel engine
? = pto type
?= transmission type

So it's a standard 4000 all purpose with a loader and smaller rear tires, it may look level because of the flat front tires.

Yeah, it's an AP.
Not much of a photo of the front axle but
enough that you can ID it.
I didn't notice the flat tire/s.
Main, those are great old tractors.
They're getting long in tooth now so
there'll be some things that need fixing
but all parts are readily available and
they aren't hard to work on.
Next step is to get a repair manual for it.
You can spend lots of dough and find a copy
of an original Ford repair manual for it.
That will be in a 3 ring binder and weigh
about 6 lbs. Meanwhile, you can buy an I&T
FO-31 from this site which will cover all
the basics. And an owner/operators manual
will be chock full of good info that you
want too.

Looks like wet brakes too. When did Ford go from dry drums to wet discs on the 4000?

I think I see what a battery explosion looks like? So what happens, bad connection, resistance increases, high current situation, watts increase,
electrolyte boils and expands faster than the vent in the cap can expel it....and boom??? Back in the days of the 6 individual caps, I've seen the center
discs blown out, probably because of an overload. Once you put the 3 under one cover it made it a lot harder to blow the cap first.

Wet brakes were put on the 4000 in 65 when the new design was introduced.
63-64 4000's were carry overs of the 801 series with a few minor changes.

That battery had something hot get on it and melt the top, no explosion.

Wow you all have been so incredably helpful identifying this tractor l, thank you so much. The battery looked like some hot pipe was leaned up agaist it to me. I will get a oicture of the feont axel today. I am amaed at all of the options that these tactors seem to have had. It looks tomme like a blue repaint has been attempted and the original color was yellow...is that posible and what was tge yellow for if so....or was it just a color option?

Thanks you again for all of the help on sorting this one out. Orxered a starter but i will need to figure out starter bolt sizes now, i believe there are 3

The tractors main chassis doesn't appear to have had any yellow paint on it, the loader and wheels were probably added later off of a industrial model.

The starter bolts are 3/8 course thread 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long
