backhoe/fel filter location

Hey all,
Finally getting my project 3400 near finished. I have to run a couple hydraulic lines for the backhoe still but then I'll be ready to fill up the hydraulic reservoir and try it out. My question is, where is the filter for the backhoe and FEL hydraulic fluid located?

This tractor, FEL and backhoe sat disconnected with the hydraulic line fittings open to the elements so I'm sure there is junk in the lines and reservoir that I don't want going into the pump and valves. It seems the suction line goes straight from the reservoir to the pump, so that worries me a little bit. Its a 3400 tractor with a 713 backhoe and a FEL that I cannot find an ID tag on.

Also, where is the port to fill up the hydraulic reservoir? I see a "T" fitting that that has a cap on it underneath the valve. Is this the fill port? That is the highest point i see that is plumbed into the reservoir/frame. Do I fill it up completely or is there a certain amount that I should put in?

Fill is plug on top of left uprite and filter is at bottom of left uprite bolted with 4 bolts. Its tall paper filter.

To elaborate on what Shaun said, the filter is actually inside the bottom of left upright. There is a plate on the bottom of the frame under the upright and you remove that plate and the filter is mounted on the top of the plate.

With it having sat open,it's highly probable water has gotten into reservoir and caused rust. Then you have to thik about mud daubers and grass wasps. It would be very wise to add filters at inlets of pump and valves.

(quoted from post at 16:55:10 11/04/18) The OEM filter is a suction filter located between the tank and pump.

The 3400 didn't have a "tank". The reservoir is the frame of the loader. The filter is internal to the frame at the bottom of the left upright.

Thanks everyone! I was able to get the last 2 lines ran and I found both the fill port and the filter location. I never would have guessed the filter area! Now I think the only question is how much fluid it needs. I have a manual, but it was misplaced during the last move and I cannot seem to find it anywhere!

Thanks again!
