'64 Ford 4000 Bent linkage I think?

Greeting Everyone. I am new to the forum and have the first of many stupid questions. Here is the first one.
I recently purchased this '64 Ford 4000 and when I opened up the transmission I found this part of the inching pedal linkage that appears to be bent. Is this supposed to be twisted like this or should it be strait?

That's the inching pedal return spring anchor. It shouldn't be all twisted up like that. Where's the spring that should be attached to it?

Yes, I have the manual. Looking a the photo in the manual, it looked like the inching pedal spring clip there was bent a little. Didn't know if it was some kind of an adjustment.I cannot understand how anyone can bend something like this. I'll get it straitened out today. Thank you for the replies.

That arm does look like it's bent a little, no idea why. Note that the hole where the spring hooks into it is worn a little. Well, the spring itself wears in the same place. A few years ago, the hook end of the spring wore through and broke on my 871, and of course, the inching pedal didn't work. The really bad part of this was the little hook end was kicking around somewhere in the transmission. Ended up draining the transmission and fishing around for hours with a magnet.

Look your spring over carefully before reinstalling.

And now I know how it got bent. The foot board on the left side is bent down and allowed the inching pedal to over travel and bent that piece. Anybody have a left side foot board for a 64 4000 for sale that's not bent?

I have a left foot board, but I doubt that's how that got bent.

I see that also, but try as I might I cannot find a place to include it on my profile page.
I have my email address on the profile page and have checked " Always show my email address" but it just isn't there.
