from previous posts, I was not aware that pertronix peferred or required non metallic wires??? current status- good gas flow-No spark, I tested for 12 v at dist side of coil. It was good. I did not crank engine to see if it would vary? I will do that , but where do I go from there? I am inclined to head to NAPA and pick up points and condenser. I will need to get new correct screws for the distributor??? short and sort of special? size? So which part nos and screw size should I ask for??
 
I can't remember the size of the screws Bill, but I seem to remember
that the exact length was not a standard hardware store option.
Did you find anything in your Pertronix instructions requiring changing the plug wires?
I meant to check the instructions that came with my new one, but I don't recall seeing it.
I did change my plug wires, because they were corroded, but not specifically for the EI.

ertronix has module test instructions on web site, only requiring battery & voltmeter. Screws must be short enough to not reach thru breaker plate and contact centrifugal advance mechanism. As for the resistance/carbon wires, instructions from years past did not mention/require those. However, some of the later/next generation (II) units do call for such wires. It also appears the Pertronix customer service may be making such recommendations to callers having problems with older units. That is the way I see it.
