Every now and then I post to see if anyone has a Select-Trol Valve for a 53/54 NAA for sale or have seen any. I have a 711 loader im trying to install with all factory parts.

Thanks Ryann

if it is a trip-dump bucket style, you can go ahead and install it and chain the 3pt upper arms to the axle, and run a hose from the under seat port to the cyl, and just use the 3pt control for now. If you need to use the 3pt, you can make a bucket prop and add in an isolation ball valve.

Soundguy I know we?ve talked about this years ago but can you explain to me how you did the ball valve setup again

Basically, when you chain the 3pt upper arms to the axle, and remove the plug in the cover under the seat, you are creating a pressure path. Add a hyd hose from that port to the lift cyl, and when you operate the 3pt control, the arms can't lift, so the loader lift cyl does. Dropping the 3pt control lets the oil exhaust back down the hose thru the exhaust portion of the valving.

Now, say you want to use the 3pt. Cut a suitable prop rod.. Say 8" of HD angle iron, hose clamp it to the hyd cyl rod at the bottom, relaxe the 3pt, and the loader drops till it bottoms into the angle iron. That keeps the bucket off the ground. Now to use the 3pt, you would want a valve in the hyd path from the cover to the cyl, otherwise, when you unchain the lift and try to lift something heavy on the 3pt, the loader will likely float up. The valve prevents this. Alternatively, you coil install that angle iron stop AND add a hold down latch or chain to keep the loader down. The ball valve will have less slop.. And pipe thread valves are cheap.

Here is my set up for my one arm loader on my 8n. Mine comes from test port. Yours will come from top plate. Use black pipe not galvanized pipe. By adding a value if you want to use the 3pt in will stop the flow to the loader and divert the flow to 3pt arms. If you're planning to take your loader off and on a quick hydraulic disconnect will come in handy. You can chain down the arms or use something else to keep the 3pt from coming up. Hydraulic flow will take the path of less resistant.

Thanks for the advice. For you guys that have the 53 or 54 can you send me some photos of your brackets that mount in the tractor. I was able to find original brackets over the years and am now ready to mount. Just would like visuals of where they mount on the tractor itself
