Need Help to ID a Ford 3000 (Belgium)

I was looking on tractor data website (only source I know of for serial #'s) and I noticed they only list the serial numbers and years for the United States made Ford 3000 (C prefix). My tractor appears to be a Belgium made tractor from the A prefix, the different fenders, and the grille design. Does anyone know how to decode everything for it? I didn't know if the serial numbers were different.

Trying to find out what year model it is and if it has power steering or not.

I can't tell you much about the serial #.
I don't think that power steering was ever
identified any where in those codes.
You do not have PS on that tractor.
There would be a hydraulic cylinder on each
side of the travtor if you did. It would
also have a ps pump on the left front
corner of the engine too.

It wouldn't have the power steering integrated without having a cylinder on each side?

8M05B
Built Dec 05, 1968 on day shift

All 2-3000 models with power steering had hyd cylinders connected to the drag links on each side.
This is the power steering on my 4000SU which is the same as on 2-3000 tractors
Notice the pump in front of the oil filter, hyd cylinders and lines going to the steering column

As for date, code 8M5B means 8 is 1968, M is December, 5 is 5th day
of December, B is day shift

Model C1013C, C is model 3000, 10 is agricultural all purpose, 1 is
diesel engine, 3 is live 540 PTO, and C is 8 speed transmission.

Serial number A179124, A is made in Antwerp Belgium, serial number
179224 doesn't jive with the commonly-found serial number chart for
the 3-cylinder thousand series. That shows 1967 but I would go by
the date code which says 1968.

If the date code says December 1968 does that mean it is a 1968 year model or would that be assembly date and mean it's an early 1969 model?? Maybe that serial number is specific to Belgium made tractors?

Good questions. Good luck finding definitive answers or references
regarding Antwerp serial numbers on the Internet.

One note, however, is that the New Holland parts catalog for the
3000-series 3 cylinder tractors goes by Production Date not model
year for the parts. Below is a link to the catalog at Messicks.

That would be an assembly date. Call it a '68 or a '69... won't matter... but it would probably be considered a '69.

Usually, that number is split, so first part is an identification of
the production block or release order. Then the last part is the unit
number within that block. If you read up on foreign-made motorcycles,
for example, they use that system, too. It often includes the place (Antwerp),
the product line, and other info. Could be a log-book number you'd only know if
you were an insider.

True, there isn't a lot of info on the European serial numbers back then, but I do have a reference page from a European Service Manual that lists the starting serial numbers for the "New models" (Post 4/1/68 when they switched the sheet metal and grill styles along with a few other things), and the first A serial numbers when they switched over started at A168001, and that one was a 2000, the first "New Model" 3000 was A168007, the first 4000 was A168003 and the first 5000 was A168004. So A179224 seems reasonable for a December 1968 tractor.

10-4 Thanks Sean!
