Hello. I have a 1973 Ford 4400 3 cyl gas model. While attempting to re-connect the PTO shift cable which had come adrift, I had to disconnect the SOS shift cable from the transmission control valve. Now I"m not sure how to reconnect the cable properly. Here is a picture of the cable end I"m trying to reinsert into the control valve. I am rotating it the right way but it doesn"t seem to connect to the wheel in pic 2. Have I lost a piece?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Collin

Welcome to the site. You likely won't be able to post photos here until you've made a few posts or replies.

Are you sure you're placing the stub cable in the proper connector? It is possible to push the PTO actuator down out of the cover while inserting that cable if one is not cautious.

I'd find it strange if disconnecting the shift cable could dislodge anything. But I suppose stranger things have happened.

May I ask why you had to remove the shifter to work on the PTO cable ?

I was attempting to raise the cover plate to get the pto cable back into the proper slot and the shifter cable came undone on its own and popped out.
