Bad injector symptoms?

Have a ford 4410 (woods model) with a 4630 bsd motor. It has never given me any issues until tonight.

Started fine and ran at about 800 rpm. Was going to let it warm up / lubricate for a minute didn't make it long and It sounded funny almost like it was going to shut off. Gave it slightly more throttle maybe 1100-1200 rpm. Dont know how to describe it but the motor did not sound right so I shut it down.

Maybe starving? Maybe too cold ( temp was 40)?

I know it's not a good description but any ideas?

Certainly could be. What is baffling is it ran great, no issues a week ago but I guess sediment can settle out and cause issues. Probably need to keep it simple and replace them first

Every 65 up Ford tractor I've owned the owners manual sez replace injectors every 600 hrs. My 7710 had 4000 hrs on it when I bought it was a Tiger mower tractor the injectors were painted yellow I'm sure they were orginal. When I checked them the trip pressure and pattern were way off. After replaced power up fuel use down. At less than $70 an injector is's pay me now or pay me later

Diesels will make a sort of burbling noise as they are running low on fuel pressure and then speed up too. I have had this happen when; filter was getting plugged; running out of fuel in the tank; fuel line obstructed at a Tee; Air being sucked in at a leak. The tractors acted and sounded pretty much the same for all four causes.

So I have ordered 2 new fuel filters and plan on starting there. I will of course also be checking flow through the shutoff elbow from the tank. After that, if no improvement or I have concerns I will head straight for injectors.

There is also a filter/screen in your injection pump. Check fuel flow at bleed screw on side of injection pump while cranking. Fuel should shoot out 5-6'.

Vatractor I would exhaust all of the fast, easy, cheap, before going after the difficult expensive possibilities.

Agreed. Too many times in my life I have wasted money and time not exploring the simplest solutions first.

Is the injection pump screen hard to access?
