Ford 3000 over heating, fixed and thank you

Hello, our son and I bought a Ford 3000 diesel, not running, PO widow didn't have much info, past renters of Farm said it ran 3-4 years prior,
after much research here got it running, except it pegged the temp gauge at pto speed/ 1900 rpm, returned to cool at idle.
round up the usual suspects,
thermostat stuck, nope
old hoses collapsing, nope
radiator clogged, radiator shop said "surprisingly clean and flowed well"
bad sending unit, nope
noticed after replacing all the above parts, temp still goes up AND fuel gauge goes up and down with rpm's, mmmm interesting
So checked voltage idle 12.5 or so, 1900 rpm 16 +
replaced voltage regulator with new one from local NH dealer.
shows normal temps, fuel level and it runs like a top,
thanks to all here for your collective wisdom and humor, Ed

Good job of sleuthing that one out.
Those are great, small tractors and worth the time and even doing a bit of hair pulling to work out the kinks on them.

Just a note: Serv. manuals put injector pump max setting at 2200 with PTO rpms at 1800. May or may not make a difference in operation of your implements......I find my gearbox vents puke oil when I run too fast...no biggie, just an observation.
