Ford 601 water pump

Be careful if you buy this part from Yesterday's Tractor:Ford 601 Water Pump - with Press-On Pulley. It will fit a 601 fine, and looks just like the original. However, after I installed the pump and started the tractor, after just a few minutes the "Press-on Pulley" with the fan attached flew off the shaft of the water pump and in to the radiator. You can guess what happened to the radiator. I am not sure of the manufacturer but the package said it was made in Turkey. I am waiting for Yesterday's Tractor to address the issue. I am not sure I want to use the same pump. Are there other water pumps out there that may be more reliable?

You can have your old one rebuilt or you can do it yourself if have a way to press the parts.. It sounds like they forgot to put a retaining clip on the end of the shaft.

"I am waiting for Yesterday's Tractor to address the issue."

How long have you been waiting? I think I'd give them a chance
to make it right before I bad mouthed them on a public forum.
Especially their forum that they provide to us for free. After all,
they don't make the parts and manufacturer defects happen.

To me, he did not bad mouth anyone.

He told us what he bought, from where, but didn't know what company it's from. And that it threw the fan off, and damaged the radiator.

He said he did not know, if he wanted to use the same remanufacturer water pump. (He said nothing of YT)

He said he was waiting for YT to address it. He did not bad mouth them.

I, for one, is glad when someone has a part fly apart (not just quit working) I would be keeping an eye on any pressed on pulley after that, from the rebuilder that worked on his. As I would about any part, from any company, that the part was bad. specially one that can fly apart, and do damage, or could hurt someone.

I believe YT would not get mad, or penalize anyone, or shut the forum down over something they had no hand in rebuilding.

I for one is glad it was brought to our attention, so that someone else should keep an eye on, form getting hurt, or having to much damage if it happened again.

When everything was Made in the USA we didn't have much in the way of bad parts. We were proud of our work and made sure it was "up to snuff" or it didn't get that personal signature. People are too distracted in these fast-paced days. Everything keeps speeding up, I'm going to fly off the merry-go round. Even the music was slow and easy back then. I would be pretty perturbed about my radiator being chewed up because of a 10 cent clip. You have to double check what you buy these days. Even though, it's still a faulty part that got through (your radiator). It's like going to a fast food mart, if you don't check your order you might not get what you ordered.

"I for one is glad it was brought to our attention"

I agree with that TinCan. Always nice to know when products aren't
as advertised. Hence my initial question. How long have you waited.

I would much prefer to see a post that says "I bought this part
and it didn't work out well because...blah blah blah, but after
some investigation the seller took care of it for me. If you buy
one of these, make sure you check X-Y-Z when installing".

I have not seen the new parts yet, but it appears Yesterday's Tractor will be providing a new water pump and radiator. So far the customer service has been very good and efficient. I was just trying to state the
facts objectively and pass along what I thought was valuable information.
