3600 alternator

I want to disassemble the 3600 alternator and clean up the case. I was lpooking on the New Holland site for brushes but could not find any parts for the alternator. Could someone direct me to parts related to refreshing the alternator?

According to the parts drawings the Commutator Brush is labelled 33 in the drawing and is part number D7NN10B363A, but it appears to be no longer available.

Why not replace it with a modern alternator that does not require the external voltage regulator?

Sean I would like to explore the option of swapping to an internally regged alternator. Could you recommend an alternator that would bolt up? Also could you point me in the direction of rewriting said alternator? I have heard the later model ford alternator is a good choice.

I've never done an x600 series conversion myself, but as I understand it, most folks on here use a Delco 10si. I'm not sure on that model tractor whether the mounting bracket might need to be modified or replaced though.

in the 600 series or the 10 series,,, I dont remember, but one of them will need a new slotted bracket as the original one has a very small curve built into it and it will not work with the fatter 10 si. Luckily, the slotted belt tension alt brackets are cheap but usually chromed. I just keep a couple on the shelf along with the 10si alternators.

$56 dollars with free shipping.. This is a "3 wire", which is better if you have an alternator light... or buy a "one wire" is you dont. About same price.

And the bracket if needed... is

Its $9.49 with free shipping, comes extra long so you can cut off and drill a mounting hole anywhere needed.

I was having a wiring problem with my Ford 4610 and I got that fixed but the regulator failed on me and ruined the battery by overcharging at 17 V. the battery continued to start the tractor until it failed so there was no warning that there was a problem.

The local electric shop had a voltage regulator that attached to the back of my alternator with it"s own wires and had one wire running to the regulator from the key switch. It eliminated all the wiring between the regulator and the alternator except for the key switch wire and it works like a champ.
You may want to look into something like this.
