Diesel Radiator to Gasser?

In working on my gas 3 cylinder 2000 to get it ready to sell, I discovered that the radiator has a leak somewhere in the fins. Slight leak and I only noticed because I was working on installing a bumper and, out of the corner of my eye, saw a drop of liquid fall from the radiator. Looked closer and found some wetness in the fins. I also have a 2000 diesel which I plan to keep. Can a put the radiator from the diesel (1970 model) into the gasser (1965 model)? I'm thinking I'd buy a new radiator for the diesel since I'm planning to keep it and move the diesel radiator to the gasser. I've looked at the parts on this web site and it appears that the radiators are the same. Would that simple swap work?

They are the same radiator. I?m not sure where YT sources their radiators but if the one you buy isn?t a Clancy radiator from Ireland or the
Czech Republic id put the new radiator in the tractor to be sold.
 

Early gas tractors had radiators with 5 fins per inch and diesel radiators had 7 fins per inch.
This was later changed to both gas and diesel models using radiators with 7 fins per inch.
Putting your 70 model diesel radiator on the older gas model will be fine, it may even run a little cooler.

I had the opposite issue back in 92 when I converted my 4000 gas to diesel, it had a 5 fin radiator with cooler for the SOS trans.
Not having a diesel radiator for SOS I used the gas radiator I had, knowing this radiator had less fins I used the 6 blade gas fan to move more air thru the radiator, the tractor was converted to 8 spd trans in 2000 but to this day I'm still using the 5 fin gas radiator and 6 blade fan.
It doesn't run any hotter than my 4000SU with 7 fin radiator and 4 blade diesel fan.
I will say that in dusty conditions the 5 fin radiator doesn't plug up as fast as the 7 fin.
 
I've not checked to see if there is an oil cooler component to the diesel tractor nor checked to see how many fins per inch, an interesting bit of information to inject into slow moving conversations. Sounds like I may be better off keeping the existing radiator in the diesel (if it ain't broke, don't fix it principle). There used to be a great radiator shop in Atlanta that would rod out and clean radiators that were fix-able at a reasonable price. I have a couple radiator shops to call tomorrow to see how likely they can fix the radiator out of the gasser and for how much. Looks like a new one from this site is about $200. Not the end of the world but sure hate to put more money into a tractor that I'm planning to sell. Thanks for everyone's input.
 

You've misread my post, the cooler in my radiator was for the Select o Speed trans, nothing to do with the engine.
Put your old radiator in the gas tractor you plan to sell and get a new one for the one your going to keep.
 
It is my understanding that the oil cooler for the S-O-S trans oil on the 3 cylinder tractors was standard on the 4000, optional on the 3000 and not available on the 2000, but that is just what I've been told.
 
An update on my problematic radiator....I took the radiator to a local radiator shop and they were able to fix the leak and rod out the unit so it's good as new. Price was $125 vs around $200 for a new one. Maybe this one will last another 50 years. I'm gonna put it back in the gas tractor that's going to be sold and just leave the diesel radiator as it is. Thanks for everyone's input.
