Tractor Ford 3000 1971 diesel, generator with tach drive.
Generator looks too new to be original, Field lug is on the OD of body, not the end. Instrument cluster is a new one from Steiner.
When at 2070RPM on the instrument cluster, the test tachometer says 1800 at flywheel. At actual 1800 rpm the PTO reads 540.
I am pretty certain the laser tachometer is correct because I tested every motor around here with it.
I could just paint a dot on the instrument cluster face at 2070 to indicate PTO. However, I am a little OCD...
When they were new were they accurate with rpm reading?
The tach drive, do they make different gears for that? Do they/did they, so can I have the wrong one? If not different gears, them maybe different tach drives? Anyone know the generator to tach cable ratio?
Or the maybe entire generator is the wrong one.
Do the instrument clusters have a calibration adjustment?
What if I replaced the 3.5" generator pulley with a 4"?
