Marvel-Schebler Carburetor

My carburetor started flowing fuel out when I turned it off, so I bought a carb kit from here and proceeded to see what was wrong.

I checked the float, it doesn't appear to have a leak (no fluid sloshing, does float) but it still sticks open. When i replaced the pin in the picture, that pin has a rubber thing on the end and now that seems to want to stick in the "up" position and not allow any fuel.

Any ideas on what to do next?

I've seen others post saying the rubber tipped needle valves due tend to stick.
I think the suggestion was to use the old solid metal one.

I believe you are talking about the needle, not the pin.
Your needle appears to be the type that would use a pull-off
spring to pull it open when the float drops. Your kit should have
came with one but if not, I have one I'd give you.

Check out your "rubber" tip on it. I bought a carb kit last year and the viton tip was not viton and the gas made it swell up. Weird problem, but yet it happened and I suppose it will happen again!

I've had two of them do that in the last year or so. Plugged the seat completely.
