Ford 861 Newbie owner questions

I'm a new owner of a Ford 861. This is my first tractor so pardon me if these questions seem basic.

I went to a local tractor dealer to inquire about back (scrapper) blades. The salesman recommended a couple of lighter duty blades made by LS or a Woods RBS72. I'm not sure these would be stout enough to handle the 861's power. I will be mainly pushing snow with it and occasionally grading some ground. What width blades should I be looking at? Will a 6 foot blade be wide enough when angled or should I be looking at 7 foot blades?

What are people using to add weight to the front of these tractors that won't break the bank? I do need new front tires, will adding ballast to the new tires provide a significant gain? It doesn't seem like this would be worth it to me. The rear tires are already filled.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
I use a 6 ft blade on mine and it is a bit short when angled.
A 7 ft would be better if it will clear your tires to spin around
without unhooking it from the tractor.

Front tires can be filled. Depending on their size and what you
fill them with, you would gain somewhere around 50~80 lbs each.
There are also wheel weights that fit inside the front tires.
These are 100 lbs per side but they can be spendy.
This picture was taken before I had this pair sandblasted.
Finished up the painting yesterday.

Craigslist is a great place to
find implements. If you don't mind
a little hunting! We bought some
suitcase weights to hang on our
640 brush gaurd. Hardly ever put
em on.
