851, What's it worth?

Found this tractor today at a salvage yard and the guy is going to have it hauled off to another scrap yard. He does not know anything about it, except that's where it was unloaded years ago.
What I do know about it is, it was used by the U.S Army at one point, due to the stenciling on the hood. The backhoe is complete and not to much slop in the pivot points. The loader is complete from what I can tell, and no welds on it. Of course, all four tires are flat and severally cracked, the power steering pump only has part of the pulley(strange), steering has some play. Only modification that I can see is, there is a toggle switch instead of a key. The hour meter shows 885 hours, I'm sure that is not accurate.
I really don't want the tractor, but I hate to see it get melted down. I have 2 8N's and that's one more than I need.
I think I will offer the guy $500 for it, and that's more than I really want to pay.
Any serious or humorous comments?

Looks to be in a desert type location. No idea what they're worth there.
If it were near me, $500 would be a good deal with the loader and hoe.
Good, as opposed to anything better since it doesn't currently run
and the tires are all bad. Wheel weights are a plus too.

Model 851: 8 is 172 cu. in. engine, all-purpose with adjustable front axle; 5 is 5-speed manual transmission; 1 is Series designation built 1958 to 1962. Serial number indicates 1958. The loader is a 703-series. The backhoe is a 713 or 723 series, 12 ft. model. Looks like it would take a lot of work and money to get it back to ship-shape but for $500 it would be an interesting project or part-out project.

If you don't end up wanting it give me a PM, or e-mail. I could use it, and it's in my price range. aka broke. lol It's something I could fix to use in my yard, for my home projects.

It would take that much in gas to get it. I'm also guessing it's in a desert. I could just imagine where the sand has all gotten into over time. But time I have.

Thanks, Pat

Tom,
If your not going to buy it, could you pm, or e-mail me a business name, or phone number to it.

Thanks, Pat
