Weights are back from the sandblaster

Back in July I posted about buying another set of pie weights.
Link to that post [b:ababca9316]here.[/b:ababca9316]

Got them back from the sandblaster today. Bare as can be.
They'll be primed and painted this weekend to prevent rust.

Is it just me, or do these things really get heavier every time
you have to load and unload them? :D
Sandblaster is a great guy. He helped my unload them at his
place and helped me load them back up today. He had to at
least roll them over and move them around to blast them too.
Anyone care to guess what he charged me to do all of these?

I agree with Dave. It's worth every bit of $200.

I've sandblasted several sets of weights to bare metal with a gravity flow sandblaster. Takes forever. I've also farmed out sets to another with a screw type compresser and commercial high flow blaster.

Add another $250/$350 to prime and paint, and you've just about doubled the value.

He charged me $100. I couldn't have sanded them to bare metal for that.
I do take him quite a bit of work and recommend him to others
who also take him work, but his prices have always been fair.
I don't believe he charges me any less than anyone else.
If anyone in the Ionia County Michigan area is looking to have
sandblasting done, I'd be happy to give you his contact info. He
will also paint after sandblasting but I don't know his fees for that.

Definitely...
Was weight/tire week here.
Picked up another set of pie weights that sat a long time...
Two broken off bolts in the plates (very tough drill/retap job), the the usual cleaning of holes, bolts, and lugs, painting.

Then, swapping tires between a 860, 960 with loader, and a prior 2000 light Industrial.....all wearing 14.9-28's and all having the heavy sets of pie weights......whew.
I don't mind the work or the weight, but with the heavy sets and wide rims, getting a finger pinched is inevitable......

"Come and get mine."

I'd consider doing that for you Dean if you really want them done.
We''re close enough that I could make a weekend trip.
Since I still work Monday-Friday, I don't think I could make it on
a weekday evening but a weekend would work fine.
You pay what the sandblaster charges. No charge from me unless
you want me to prime and paint them before returning them.
My email is open on modern view, but you may still have it too.

I was joking, Royse, but many thanks, for the offer.

The only ones that I now have that may need painting (no need to sandblast) is a light set that I painted blue for my 4 cylinder 4000 project but have now decided to paint grey to match the centers. I'm no painter and use rattle cans and it's kind of a pain.

I thought you might be joking, that's why I included "if you really
want them done", but we're really not that far apart geographically.
I don't use a rattle can on much of anything anymore.
I'm painting them with oil based enamel with hardener.
Got the first coat on one side and will get the second coat on today.
More tomorrow. How many depends on thickness and coverage.
Even with the hardener, drying time is quite long this time of year.
Then I'll have to flip them and do the other side.
Someday I'll find a light set for my PA rims or my 24" rims.
