Ford 3000 pto clutch adjustment

Just wondering, I have a 1966 Ford 3000 gas tractor with 8 speed transmission and live pto, can I pull off the steering sector to adjust the pto clutch or do I need to split the tractor?

I suspect it could be done, but I've never tried it. That said, if it's not working correctly and you feel like it needs to be adjusted, your
problem is more likely due to worn or broken linkage, which would require a split regardless.

I've been wondering about mine, also. I got it not long ago so I don't know how it should be. The clutch doesn't engage until the pedal is almost all the way out and I can't slip it, it's either engaged or disengaged. I was trying to push an old truck into a shed the other day and I tried to ease into it but kept slamming it. This was in 1st gear almost at idle.

What do I need to check or adjust? A friend of mine that is a Ford tractor fan said there should be a cover underneath that you remove to adjust the clutch. I haven't crawled under it to check.

I never saw a cover to adjust the clutch, would be nice. Im thinking there wouldn’t be enough room in the to adjust the clutch. I’m just looking for a spot to split the tractor. We split a Ford 8n in the driveway in the beginning of summer and that was a pain. I adjust the clevis (part 5a) and got the pto to work but no transmission. I might mess with the tractor tomorrow to see if I could have just the transmission work. I need that tractor to feed the cows this winter.

You are not gonna adjust that issue out of it....
