I am getting ready to put my 2000 back together and I was curious what do yall use for sealant on threaded fuel fittings such as on the fuel pump. I have seen alot of different people use alot of different things, but what is actually correct? I don't like to use thread tape, but I have used lock tite thread sealant and also permatex anaerobic sealant with good success. So anyhow, I figured I would ask what's the best choice.

They had the rector seal brand at my local farm store. Thanks for the replays, I wanted to use something good since the fuel pump fittings are a pain to tighten/reseal if they leak.

The trick is to start layering the tape about 2 threads back from the start thread/end of fitting so that the tape does not come into contact with the gas but seals the threads.

I will also 2nd the RectorSeal recommendation. I have some yellow PTFE designated for propane use that is also rated for fuels that I use depending on situation.

The BEST product to use for NPT fuel line fittings is E-SEAL -see picture -made by GASOILA. I've been using it for over 10 ten years now and it's great. They make several thread sealing products -see LINK below...

Blue Monster, got it at a plumbing supply. PTFE probably similar to the Rectorseal below.

I only intend to use it on the tapered threads on the fittings of the fuel pump and carb, not the flared fitting side.

Only use sealant on tapered pipe fittings.

I will have to look for it at the hardware store. We only have 1 hardware store and 1 auto parts store, so some items are limited!
