Have a 1975 Gas Ford 3000 if you dont leave choke partially out it runs rough choke out runs great. I just bought it a few weeks ago and also have noticed that must have been a gas problem because someone has taken all fuel lines fuel bowl and pump off and ran a rubber fuel line from tank to carb with a electronic fuel pump in line that has its own filter and a second steel barrel filter also. Any help would be appreciated Start and works fine just needs choke out

Sounds like you'll need to do some investigation.
Two fuel filters? Is that because the tank is rusty?
If it has the Holley carb on it, they don't care for dirt/rust.
(No carb really does)
And the accelerator pump in them gets stuck so is inoperable.
I've seen a few x000's ran with electric fuel pumps and a couple
ran by gravity feed using a rubber line with no pump at all. They
all worked with clean fuel, a clean carb and a single filter.
Is your pump working and pumping gas through the plumbing?

I would say to put the thing back to stock condition. There are too many cooks in the kitchen
here. Now, one point. Running with the choke on almost always means that there is a leak in the
intake. Take a propane torch, turn it on but don't light it, and move it around the intake
manifold and the carb. If your rpm's increase at some point, that is where your leak is.

running with choke out means the jets are plugged up or you have a vacuum leak. Usually its crud in the carb.

I plan on putting back to stock then will know more how should act and how to work on cause when put together like it is to many things to be wrong. And thanks for the torch tip never heard that one before. I will start by finding someone close that has one so that i can see what looks like for sure and start getting parts to put back original. Also the tank is clean inside first thing i checked.

Thanks to everyone that answered alot of good help and it is appreciated.

Got the Holley carb? If so, needing part-choke is
dead giveaway of stuck accel pump in the Holley.
Check this forum?s archives for Holley. From this
point, opinions split. Some folks (I?m one) say to
bite the bullet & buy a Zenith carb (the only
replacements that CNH lists for these Fords).
Other folks love the Holley and will gladly spend the
time it takes to bring them back to spec.

If you have Holley and want to go to Zenith, this site
is a good place to get one, and you support them
for providing this nice free forum.

Ditto to what 3000OH said.
If you are a GOOD carb man you might be able to fix your Holley.
If you are not a good carb man save yourself a lot of grief and buy yourself a Zenith.
Those Holleys were meant to be very efficient, penny pinching carbs. But they are overly complicated and often worn out now. For a farmer who put 800 hours a year on his tractor efficiency was an important factor.
For most of us hobbiests who Might put 50 hours a year on their tractor and doesn't mind burning a few more gallons of gas a Zenith will make your tractor RUN and save you a lot of frustration.

Thanks for all the information will read a little deeper in the forum. All the help is appreciated. Thanks All

I partially disagree. A stuck accelerator pump ONLY affects when a sudden load is applied and when the carb opens up suddenly, the mixture will go very lean.. The accelerator pump gives the engine a temporary squirt of gas to over come this sudden change in the butterfly. The accelerator pump does NOTHING when your running at constant load. The symptom of a stuck accelerator pump is the cough you get when suddenly opening the throttle. Other than the cough or sudden bogging for a second, the holly still runs fine. If clean, it will idle good and hold a constant load good. Earlier tractors ran marvel schiebler carbs with NO accelerator pumps for years and do the same thing. In my experience, most (ford tractor)holly carbs out there have "stuck/rusted/gooped up" accelerator pumps, but run fine when cleaned properly other than the cough on sudden full throttle.
