Ford 7600 blue power special wheel base?

On facebook I found a 1981 Ford 7600 blue power special, deckover, 8 speed, advertised for $8500, too much for a 8 speed. The question I have is that in the pictures, the front
axle is clearly 6 to 10 inches set back, where a strattle model would have it. Not where a deckover would have it placed, right at the base of the grill. I have never seen one
like this. Was there a short wheel base option? I have attached a picture of the ad. Thank-you, any input would be helpful.

Thanks you fordfarmer, what do think of the asking price of $8500. The guy saids it has had 3000 hrs when the tack was replaced, and it now reads 35 hrs (how convenient). Even if the hours are true, i feel for an 8 speed around 5.5-6.5 thousand would be about right ( I have seen similar 16 speed tractors sell for less than 7.) thanks.

It depends a lot on location. That said, the tires and paint look decent. If it runs good and hours seem to check out, maybe it's worth that. BUT... Did he say it's a Blue Power Special? Those were built in '81. But 7600 rowcrops were only built in '76. In '77, they were replaced by the 7700. 6600 and 7600 rowcrops were essentially 5200's and 7200's with minor updates, just stopgaps until the x700's were available. So get the numbers off the bellhousing to verify just what it is.

Except in 1976... a 6600 or 7600 could be ordered as a utility or rowcrop. I can't remember what it is offhand, but they have a different model number stamped on the bellhousing and ID tag. Like the 5200 and 7200 wearing 5000 and 7000 decals just like the all-purpose models. The 6700 and 7700 came out in '77.

So a 7600 row crop could not be a blue power special? I bought a 6600 blue power special new couldn't keep it cool under heavy load even went to a 5 core radiator.

I thought you just swapped the axle around to make it a short or long wheelbase? That's the way my 5200 works.

That tractor would probably bring $7k around here if it was good on paint and mechanically sound. Love my 5200 which is the same size machine. It is a big little tractor. Great for fields that are a few acres.

Blue Power Special was when Ford increased the size of the engines in the 5600, 6600 and 7600 models.
5600 was changed from 233 ci to 256 ci
6600 and 7600 where changed from 256 ci to 268 ci
This was done in 81
The 7600 row crop was only built in 76 before the introduction of the 7700 in 77 which was 5 years before the BPS

Right - the BPS were only built in '81. The 5600 was bumped from a 233 c.i. to a 256, the 6600 and 6700 were bumped from 256's to 268's, and the 7600 and 7700 were bumped from 256 turbos to 268 turbos. Basically x600's with Series 10 engines.
