Question on Ford 600. I have the tractor split as we are cleaning / painting, trying to do a decent restoration.
The engine block is hard to clean. I'd like to remove the hydraulic pump. The pump has a manifold that mates up to the "trans half" of the split tractor. I have a few questions about this system....
1) the manifold seals with O-rings against the trans half of the tractor. Should I replace those O-rings?
2) Looks like 3 bolts hold the manifold to the pump. Not leaking now, but can I separate that joint with no concerns? This would be just to clean the block and manifold better for painting.
3) what about taking pump off motor/engine block? Looks like gear drive off back of cam. There are two good sized bolts between pump and motor. I think I can remove them and maybe pump will just come off? I just don't want to find out that gaskets or seal system is not available.
This is all just to get things real clean...kind of a mess behind the hydraulic pump from 60 years.
thanks, moday
