I would like to know if anyone did this. If the side seals swell up with oil anyway, why cant you just slide them in and when the oil gets to them wouldnt they just seal up from that oil?

Well, I thought about that, but when you glue something clean with silicone it is very hard to get off. I figured it would be a problem if I wanted to pull the cap later. I never seemed to have a problem with the sticks leaking. What about just putting silicone on the sticks. If you use the victor stuff do you fill the whole void with it or do you fill the ends and put it on the sides or do you fill the stick cavity, smear it on the base and then just slide the cap in? I have an engine right now that wasnt leaking at all and it just started leaking a lot one day.

The tube comes with a pretty long applicator, so it almost gets all the way down in. What I did was put an ample amount on before sliding the cap in then stuck the applicator in and filled it out. Next time you want to change it a razor blade will make short work the bond. The last time I used the regular side seals with the little soft metal rods, I had it in and out three times before I was happy with it.

I have done it every way possible yes you can RTV the side seals and even the rubber with pins. I will never use the rubber/pin deal again. VR with RTV is the best in my opinion RTV the side seals also works..
