I would to make a HD engine stand to mount this BSD333 Motor I have so I cn run it to make sure it's ok. Anybody out there ever custom made a stand.I just want something good and solid. Portable would be nice but not a necessity. Please take a pic or two of what you have. I appreciate it

If you just want to run the thing, keep it where it sits and block it up with some good cribbing. It won't go anywhere if you do it right. I
certainly would not run it up in the air on a stand, unless it was very substantial.

I don't feel safe just doing it with wood cribbing. I have some heavy duty 3" angle iron that i could weld together and bolt it to the engine. I'll keep it low to the ground for sureq

This is a crate for a BSD 444 engine. We've run this engine in this stand multiple times. Some 4x4s and some long lag screws and you're good
to go.

I'm with Bern.
A frame built out of 4x4s woyld be more
than sufficient for a test stand.
I knew a guy that parted out cars and
trucks. He would pull the engine and
transmission together and set the engine in
a couple of truck tires. It worked just
fine to show a prospective customer that it
ran.
Btw, what will you use to bolt the starter
to? I'm thinking that block plate isn't
sturdy enough.
I have one if those BSD engines.
It came off an irrigation pump.
Note the bracket for the starter on it.

If you look at the pic I posted in my thread yesterday, you can see that the starter is bolted to the factory plate, and that the plate is bolted to the block immediately below the starter. Seems to work just fine for as little as we run it. It obviously would not work indefinitely if the engine were to be used daily.

Yep I bolted mine to the plate right below the starter. Really stiffens up the starter mounting. Seems to work just fine

TO ALL:
How are you guys keeping them cool with no water? I get the diesels run cool with no load but it seems to me, more than a minute or two without water touching the sleeves would warp them form heat?

If it was mine, I'd either run it for about a minute max without water (which is long enough to show a prospective buyer), or else fill the
cooling system with water and running it much longer. Under zero load, a diesel engine generates very little waste heat.

Yep that's what I'm gonna do.. fill the jacket with water shed run it till the water is hot but not 180

(quoted from post at 07:09:16 09/16/18) Easy enough to take it outside and duct
tape a garden hose to the inlet side of the
water pump.
You can run it all day then.

You're right UD...I did that and it worked great...ran the engine for over two hours today and no overheating problems. Just drained the old really black oil out of it. Need to run down a oil filter for it tomorrow and put in new oil ...then I will make a youtube of it running
