The dealer shows two different lower bushings. I need to know the year they went to the bigger size lower bushings.

looks like July 1,1958 is when the change was made according to the NH parts page

maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I thought the NAA used four all the same
and the x00's and up used a larger bottom

I think the change was 58, I cant see the production dates anymore since they improved the partstore, thanks.

The way I under stand the NH parts pages, '53-'64 top bushing 2N-3109 '53-'64 bottom bushing NCA-3110A

From my reading of the part descriptions,:

7 2N3109 BUSHING,31.74mm ID x 34.98mm OD x 38.1mm L Front Wheel Spindle, Upper 2 (Prod Date) after 01-JAN-1955; 1 53/54 Use 4 pieces for upper & lower front 1

8 NCA3110A BUSHING,34.1mm ID x 37.38mm OD x 38.1mm L Front Wheel Spindle, Lower, All Purpose, Standard, & LCG 2 (Prod Date) after 01-JAN-1955; 1

8 [ ! ] 312662 BUSHING,37.27mm ID x 40.45mm OD x 38.1mm L Front Wheel Spindle, Lower, All Purpose, Heavy Duty 2 (Prod Date) after 01-JUL-1958;

The first one, 2N3109, was used for the upper and lower bushing for the NAA (53/54), and for the upper in all models from 1/65 on.

The second one, NCA3110A was used as the lower in all regular front axles from 1/1/55 on. Note that there is no end date.

And the third one, 312662 (superseded by 321662) was used in heavy duty axles only, from 7/1/58 on.

If you look at the descriptions for the spindles themselves and the axle ends, the 1/55 & up parts do not have an end date either, and the ones with the starting date of 7/1/58 also say "Heavy Duty" which makes me believe that starting on 7/1/58 they offered both a regular and heavy duty front axle for the all purpose tractors. So unless your 801 was made before 7/1/58, you would need to drop your spindles and measure to determine which lower bushings you need.

I'm with Sean...safest thing to do is remove spindle and measure. I went through this with my 601 that had a heavy duty front axel. It required the larger set and I did not measure before hand, I now have a set of bushings that I don't need.

I didnt want to drop them until I had parts in hand. Everything I find has the smaller bushings and smaller lower spindle bearings.

You could call a parts site like Messicks and ask them if you could order both and then return the ones that you don't need because you need the tractor and can't afford the down time.

BDT where did you buy the larger size? Ive looked on fleabay and only find the smaller ones but their ad says it fits most 4 cylinders. Their measurements are for the smaller size. I looked on YT and their numbers dont match.

Just one of those jobs where you need to either tear it down before ordering, or have all [i:27df8b2109]three[/i:27df8b2109] parts choices on hand. Lower bushings and spindle thrust bearings and inner wheel bearings can be one of three different sizes and you can't tell until you measure.
And with spindles and axle ends being so easy to swap......they might even be different on either side. I had a 641 with the HD axle where someone in the past had swapped a standard axle end onto one side. (probably after breaking a spindle and not being able to find a HD replacement.)
Some rough measurements for you

Upper spindle end 8N-NAA/600-800/600-800 HD= 1.250

Lower spindle end 8N-NAA 1.250, 600-800 1.335 600-800HD 1.462

Inner wheel bearing ID 8N-NAA 1.188, 600-800 1.250, 600-800HD 1.375

Try SBBSKIT04 on this site's parts store. This is a kit and has all the goodies you need. The larger spindle bushing's old number is C5NN3110B and is easier to find than the new CNH number of 312662. You can buy just the spindle bushing from Messicks but you'll pay $30 for just one. I believe the kit from here is $30 and has all you need.
