dunham-lehr 22 has a 2 handle spool valve. the raise/lover spool stuck in and would not come back out. of course i beat it with a hammer until the handle broke - one of my shining moments.

besides getting the handle brazed or welded. how do i get the spool to start moving again? btw i just reinstalled the fel 10 minutes before this happened. thanks in advance.

I dont know what your spool looks like but there might be a hole on the other end. You can probably heat the body casting up with a heat gun or blow dryer and have a cup full of ice cubes to cool the spool and shrink it a tad before trying to send it the other way. Dont forget the hot stuff burns. Youll probably need new orings but thats your call. Most of the time it pays to stop and look at how you are going to attack a problem. You know that 20/20 thing. I heard a story of a man who got mad at a lugnut that wouldnt go his way so he took a shotgun to it. You know that hurt.

It probably has a Cross or Green valve, there a cover on the back of the spools you can remove to get to the detent.
Ether the detent is stuck or there's a piece of trash in the valve.

Beating on a hyd valve with a hammer is never a good thing.

if i were to look for a replacement spool valve, what specs do i watch for? might be nice to switch to a joystick with float

Just a 2 spool valve with float, but I'd want to make sure it could handle 12-15 gpm, some only flow around 8 gpm and will make the loader slow no matter what the tractors capability is.

I like Cross brand, Tisco used to carry them, I think the company that bought Tisco still has them.
