Yes on it being an 841 diesel, but the '01 series didn't come out until 1957, and they started the serial numbers over again at 1001 when they did, so that serial number, 35042, on an 841 should make it a 1958 tractor.

Good day to all, got home last night, removed the mount and found this: 841>D and ?35042?. The question marks are maybe a missing number or symbol, can't really tell. So it looks like a 1955,841 diesel. Can I get a yea on that!!!!!! Now forward in rebuilding the injector pump and solving the running issue. Thanks again

Thanks Royse, that bracket is a mount for the exhaust pipe. Looks like a home made mount. as soon as I get home off goes the mount. The next beer is on me. What is the wed site mentioned in another post have tried a number of time keep getting a error screen. Thanks again.

I have a 64 4000 that I couldnt read any numbers at all. I needle scaled the area and primed with red oxide primer. All model numbers and serial numbers showed up. It was easier to see at different times of the day and different ambient light. There is a point of no return but I think they can also be magnafluxed.
