What is this extra nipple on factory loader

I recently bought a 69 ford 3400 with the factory loader, there is this extra nipple in the back by the right rear tire. That metal shield makes it look important, but the operators manual doesn't mention it. On this loader the reservoir is on the left side. And best I can tell fluid isnt run into the frame on the right. Any ideas? (THere should be a picture attached)

Return line from a backhoe it might have had at one time?

I like it! It did have a backhoe before I got it, the old bracket is to the right of the nipple. Thanks, that had been bugging me.

If that is the return for a backhoe then the right and left sides of the frame should be connected. I guess it is possible that they removed the connection between the two sides when they removed the backhoe but that's a lot of extra work.
