If you are talking about the newer drive that just has what looks like a band of sheet metal that holds the pin in, good luck! I had my first experience with one of those a couple of weeks ago helping a friend with his tractor and I had a heck of a time getting the old one off and getting the new one on without messing it up permanently. The old one was spun out but the new one was not but both were a pain to get off or on. Hopefully someone with more experience on the new drives will be along shortly to give you more help. Greg NE

That sounds like it, I guess they want you to buy a new starter. I think those foreign parts makers do that to aggravate Americans, more likely its out the door and now its your problem. I found a snap ring I can take out but dont know if I can reassemble. I helped my father work on the older ones but we didnt know about the spinning trick back then.
