Is the steel gasket reusable with some good sealant?
Do they use sealant with a new steel gasket?

Thanks Bern for the reply. That is good news! I guess that there is clearance enough in the shaft and gears to eliminate the metal gasket.I think I'll use that new permatex ultra black. I used that once before and that is some good stuff. I'll have to make some pilot bolts like your article suggested.
Luckily I didn't have to take the axle out of the housing. I just swapped housings with the junkyard. I even got a little bit better sun gear than mine was. Mine had a little hauling on one tooth.
Now if the warm weather would come back!

I would chuck the gasket and use some anaerobic sealant instead. Above are instructions for the Genesis tractors, which replaced the TW/8030 series tractors.

Did you get your shimming process all figured out?

Obviously that draft will increase if the implement runs deeper than eight inches, and decrease if it runs shallower. Why not use that draft fact to control the depth of work automatically? The draft forces are ... [Read Article]
