I have an older 3400 diesel that I've split for a clutch replacement. The flywheel has been resurfaced and I have a new pressure plate and clutch disc. The original pressure plate was sitting on spacers/shims.
Are the shims a required part of the installation or optional if needed to adjust finger/release lever height?
The IT Manual leads me to believe the finger height is set during pressure plate rebuild/assembly.
Should I verify finger height after installing the new clutch with shims and remove them if needed, or install them and just verify the pressure plate releases the disc when I assemble the halves?
TIA
