175/201 Inj. Pump Gear Position

Attached are two pics of the injection pump gear for a 175 diesel. The book says to aline the dot on the gear with the dot on the cam drive gear. The gear in the pic does not have a dot. It has the number 3 and the number 4 on it. I think the number 3 is for 3 cyls and the 4 is for 4 cyls. I would like to verify that before I install the front cover. All help is appreciated.

You are correct, use the number on the gear that the engine is cylinder wise. IH Neuss German engines did that too, gear was marked for 3, 4, and 6 cylinder engines..
