Does anyone have the wiring diagram for a
ford 5000? None of my gauges are working on
dash. I have checked the fuse and that is
good. Also i know there are sensors that are
not hooked up but do not know where
everything goes.

Thank you
Justin

May or may not be of any help, as this is for 2000, 3000, 4000 and I do not know if same or how close it may be to 5000. Perhaps you can tell or some other 5000 knowledgeable poster will chime in.

In that schematic look just past the fuse from the key switch and you'll see the voltage stabilizer, which provided power to the gauges. The warning lights for the oil pressure and charging circuit are run directly off of the fuse and if they light up then everything is good to that point, and if neither of the gauges works, then there could be a few things causing it. You say that there are some disconnected wires, so hopefully that is the problem and figuring out which ones go where will resolve the issue. The wiring diagram lists the actual colors of the wires so if the wiring harness is original that should help.

The voltage stabilizer itself is a square whitish ceramic block on the back of the instrument cluster. It should have a white wire coming to it from the fuse, and another white wire goin from it to the fuel gauge, and then another white wire that jumps form the same spot on the fuel gauge to the temperature gauge. The two senders supply the path to ground for the two gauges, and the amount of resistance varies depending on the position of the float on the fuel sender and the engine temperature on the temperature sender.

The wire from the fuel gauge to the fuel sender at the top of the tank right behind the instrument cluster should be Green with a Black Stripe (labelled G-BK in the schematic).

The wire from the temperature gauge to the temperature sender, which is located on the front of the head hear the thermostat, should be Green with a blue stripe (labelled G-BL in the schematic).

If you get everything connected properly and the gauges still don't work then check the voltage stabilizer, the continuity of the various wires, and the resistance of the actual senders.

Thank you so much, the only time i can get
the fuel and temperature guages to move is
when i hold the key on right before cranking
the engine and let the intake heater do its
thing. Once i release the key the guages go
back to there "off position"

Thank you all agian

Sounds like your ICVR & gauges are being powered from the heater terminal of the ignition switch & that should not be the case.
