ford naa rear main oil leak

i have an oil leak on the rear main and i am changeing it is the rope seal better than the neoprem seal i have the cork screw tool to take it out with just dropping the main bearing journal should i put anything on the neoprem seal we havent ever done one of these before thank you

I have used both. Neoprene works, and is much easier to do correctly than a rope seal. Good luck with the cork screw, I did read once about one working. The big thing is the seals between the block and the rear main seal/bearing cap. The ones that come in the kit, the ones with the pins, are very hard to get in. It is much easier to use silver RTV silicone from Permatex or Victor Reinz. place the block 2/3 of the way in then fill the groove with the RTV. Go another third and fill again. go the rest of the way and top it off.
