851 Lift arms lift only 3

Hi I'm hoping someone here can help, A few months ago I bought a pretty worked 851. I now have it running but the 3 point lift arms only come up about 3" and stop in the same place every time almost like they are being stopped. I did have the hydraulic cover off to replace a broken casting inside. I did clean out inside there very well, I drained all the fluid, Wiped and blew it out because I was afraid there may have been remnants of the broken casting floating around. I know for sure there is enough oil because I just refilled it. Does anyone have any ideas?

s that behavior identical in both the Position mode and the Draft mode?

If you are sure you are in position control mode chances are your cam follower pin is nearly sawed through. Solution is to replace then adjust per I&T FO-20 manual alternative adjustment procedure. While you have the lift covered pulled it'a good time to refresh seals, o-rings, and gaskets with a seal kit. There's lots of info if you search the archives.

OK, I just tried that, Here is what happens. When the draft control is in the horizontal position it only lifts about 3" When I try to push it into the vertical position it only goes about 3/4 of the way there and it seems to be spring loaded so it comes back to about 1/3 way when you let go. Here is the kicker, If I push it all the way to vertical and hold it, The 3 point will come all the way up, So at this point I think we can rule out a pump problem and also the theory that there is some left over casting debris inside, It seems like I did not put something back together correctly (which is entirely possible) does anyone know what I did wrong so I can go right to it?

Was the lift working properly before you opened it up to replace the broken casting (What exactly was broken by the way)?

The casting that hooks to the shaft and the dog bone hooks to was broken. Prior to that I have no idea if it was working as it was not running when I purchased it.

A adjustment issue are a wear issue with the lift linkage.
