ford 5610 pto shaft

what is intailed to replace 540 pto shaft in a 5610 ford tractor. is it very expensive? do you have to pull axles out? SPLIT TRACTOR

I forget the cost of parts.... probably 300 or so if you go aftermarket. You more or less need to pull the right axle housing to access the nut on the front of the shaft. Some will bend a wrench and access it through the top PTO drive shaft arpeture in front of the top link rocker.... but I'd wonder what you do if you drop the nut. I guess you can try it tho.
Remember to replace the seal on the output shaft. Also remember to not disturb the tractor if you pull that top shaft or else you may get the splines out of line in the clutch...
