I have a 3910 ford that I was hoping
someone could read the serial number and
give me some info on my tractor. It is
column shift tractor. I have noticed
online that other 3910 rear ends differ
from mine. My lift arms hook to pins
that come from the bottom of rear
end.the ones I've seen online don't have
the lift arm pins.

somethings a little off

your serial number is a 1981, the unit # shows a build date of
1 = 1981
L= November
25= day of month

3910 were built from 1983 to 1990

does yours have dry shoe brakes (drums at wheel)
or wet disc (mounted inboard at rear housing)
I've never seen a 10 series or newer with the pin mount you have, sounds like you might have a 3600 or 3610 which were the next age under and would have had dry brakes and the pin mount you describe. Post us some pictures of the tractor, I'm sure others will chime in

CA3 at the beginning of the model number says that it is a 3610, not a 3910.

CA313D is a 3610 with a diesel engine and live PTO, but I'm not sure what a "D" at the end means for the transmission code. Is that an 8 speed syncro with a column mounted shifter?

As JoeM says, 1L25 means that it was made on November 25, 1981.

The 3910 had the double reduction rear axle with the inboard wet brakes like the 3 cylinder 4000/4600/4610 models had, while the The 3610 had the single reduction rear axle and dry outboard drum brakes like the 2000/3000/2600/3600/2610 had.

Yes it is 8x4 column shift

Thanks in advance to Ultradog for having these pictures already posted on another thread here so I could link to them.

If it has the single reduction rear axle with the outboard drum brakes it would look like this, which is what your 3610 should look like (notice that the axle housing on each side is shaped like a "trumpet" and quickly reduces in diameter along it's length the farther away from the center housing you look)

If it has the double reduction rear axle with the inboard wet brakes, the rear axle would look like this, which is how a 3910 would look (notice how "fat" the axle housing on each side stays for the first foot or so along its length where it is attached to the center housing. That "fat" part of the axle housing on each side houses the wet brakes as well as the planetary gears that are the second stage of reduction in the double reduction rear end)

My tractor is like the top one. So I guess I have a 3610 instead of a 3910. I thought when I seen 3910 that mine wasn't the same. This is it someone must have painted it and put 3910 decals on it.
