600 series ground strap

My 640 has a blue wire from negative battery post to a bolt on the hydraulic pump. Obviously this is not correct. Can someone tell me where the original 11 inch braided ground strap is supposed to be bolted?

If I remember right it would have been the bolt that holds the battery box on

That's correct, but it is a poor location from a functionality standpoint. Too many joints between parts for a good electrical ground path to the starter. I like my grounds right at a starter mount bolt.

If it'll function where it was supposed to go originally, that's where I'm going to go. Right now it has a 2ft long autoparts store cable in BLUE snaking around from ground and eventually ending up on a bolt at the hydraulic pump. I've ordered the original 11 inch bare braided cable and will find out just how much corrosion there is between all of the components. lol.

I agree with you and when I can that is right where I ground one since the closer you get tot the starter the better it is grounded
