Ford 6610 transmission noise

I have 6610 with standard 8 speed, high and low with 4 forward gears. When in 3rd or 4th high there is a growling/gravely noise coming from the transmission. It's not in the clutch or PTO. It's only there when under load, not down hill or coasting or when you push in the clutch. Is there a couple of gears or bearings going out? Will I need to separate the motor to transmission or the transmission to rear end? If I pull the top off of the transmission, what to look for?

At what rpms does this growling/gravely noise occur? Any noise in in 3rd or 4th low? Or in any of the other high range gears? Does it growl the hole time or just when your accerllating off of idle?

Who knows... could be a bearing. First thing I'd do is drop the oil and have a look/see what's in there.
If I didn't find something I'd probably carry on for a while until it shows something.
