Working on a well-worn 1975 Ford 4000 3cyl diesel that won"t start. It would crank up with ether, but will only barely idle and one time it ran for about 10 minutes before it quit on its own. It will make white smoke, but never starts without help of ether. Injector pump was rebuilt last year and took back to shop last week and tested GOOD. Fresh fuel and filter, getting good flow to pump, battery strong, nothing seems out of order, just won"t start! Could it be injector problems or engine damage at this point? Thanks everyone for your previous help.

Short answer - yes.

Sounds like a compression problem to me, but only a compression test will tell you for sure. It could be the injectors as well though. Since you need to pull the injectors to do the compression test you could take them to the shop that rebuilt the pump at to have them tested while they're out.
