ford 2600 power steering issue

When I started my Ford 2600 yesterday, power steering fluid started running out of the top of the steering column. It was cold here in Maine- approximately 30 degrees- and I'm sure that played into the leakage. How difficult is it to tear down the steering column and what typically needs to be replaced other than seals? The leakage stopped after the tractor ran for a while.Thanks.

Here is a link to a write up I came across a while back. The author did a good job. It might help you out.

The hardest part is removing the tin to get at it.
You can get by just replacing the upper seal #35 but then about that time the lower seal #14 will go and you'll be back in there. The lower seal gets more involved though so you will definately need a manual to retighten the nut #21 against the spring washer #20.

I always replace the two orings #33 as well.

good luck.

just email back if you hit a snag. UD is a smart fellow.. handles many of the ps questions here.

Ultradog, do they sell a rebuild kit with the necessary seals and o-rings? If they do, where would you recommend buying it? Thanks

thanks.

but i'm not a ps guy.

i can cookbook some stuff on ps.. .. and manual steering no problem. in and out of the boxes all the time. but UD is the go to guy for PS questions. He's helped me with thrust bearing questions on them.
