On my 172-D there are two fuel return lines from the engine. One from the fuel pump that goes to the "T" in the bottom of the fuel tank in a horizontal position. (In my manual, page 123, fig. 22) This line is rubber, secured with a clamp, and does not leak. The other line from the engine head is also rubber and goes to the vertical part of the "T" and is constantly leaking and falling off. I have put several types of clamps on the connection but nothing seems to work. The small protrusion the hose connects to is quite short; maybe 1/4 inch at most. Question: what type of tubing and connector is best to stay on and not leak? The small nipple looks like it has a grove cut around the top of it and feels like it might be hexagon in shape. Looking at the figure on page 123, it looks If so, what type of fitting. If rubber will work, does anyone have a type of clamp that may stay on. Any help would be appreciated.
