OK, here are some pics of my 1967 3400 3-cyl gas. I bought it in July but haven't posted photos because I had her all pulled apart and didn't want anyone to see her that way.

I paid $2600 and so far have sunk about $1500 in parts into it. New ps pump, ps lines, new brakes, new axle oil seals, pto shaft seal, hydraulic filters, air filters, fuel pump, exhaust header, tach cable, breather tube, parking brake handle, cap, rotor, wires, battery ground cable, radius rod base and cap, loader hydraulic filter and gasket, loader return hoses, radius rod to axle bolts, front wheel lug. Changed all fluids, replaced brake shaft cross seals, rebuilt the steering box, drilled rivets out of ring gear and replaced with hardened bolts, rebuilt ps cylinders, had a tire loaded, new tire chains... but other than that I haven't had to do a single thing to it...

Well, that sounds like a lot of work, but appears to
be well worth it.
How does it run now? Are the loader hydraulics
working good? With the chains on I am assuming you
are preparing to move some snow. -Will

And here I thought the chains were to add a bit of chrome bling to her, ya know, since he hasn't had to do a thing to her

Looks ready to work!! Ya ,you got some $$$ invested, but hey, it kept you busy and appears to be well worth it.

It runs pretty well and the loader works great. The engine has good compression 130-140 psi. The head was redone before I bought it. Yes, I spent a lot of time fixing it so far. The good news is that I had fun. The last thing to fix is the power steering cylinders that I had rebuilt are leaking. Once those are fixed properly, I will make a counterweight. Yes, I am planning on moving some snow this winter. My driveway takes me over an hour with the snowblower so this baby should save me some time. Of course I already put all those hours into fixing it but as I mentioned, it was fun. :)

Looking good. Does yours have the self-leveling loader? From the controls (which look like my '66) it looks like it. If so, how do you like it? I'm having trouble getting used to no real solid down pressure.. can't lift the front end off the ground. Also seems to only self-level on the way up, not on the way down. Not sure mine's working right. Was spilling gravel all of the place trying to get used to it a few weekends ago. It's also much slower than the newer (1970's) 730 loader I have on my 4000su.

Hey Greg. Thanks for the email with photo and info on ps line hookup. Still having a problem with oil leaking past rods, trying to get in touch with the rebuilder. I do have the self-leveling loader as you noticed. I have barely used it, but if I remember right it self-leveled up and down. I'm sure it lifted the front wheels off the ground and it moves quickly and smoothly. I guess it's a stretch to say the loader works great since I haven't really done any work with it yet. One thing I can say for sure is that it has been welded back together a few times. I don't think mine is what you would call a "low hour" machine....

Nice looking tractor! I have the same model - not as pretty as yours - yet. Send me an email - I have some questions. Thanks.

That's a real good looking tractor.
It's odd to see it all yellow as they came from the factory with a blue chassis. I've seen repaints where it was all yellow but usually there was paint flaking off here and there and blue underneath.

are those new chains ?
what size?
where'd you get them?
how much?
sorry for being so nosey.
nice looking machine. i have a 3600 with a FEL but not that heavy front axle you have on the 3400.

Thanks, Ultradog. It's good to get some positive feedback. My wife thinks I'm crazy. She may be right, but I still think it's a nice tractor. As far as the color, you are right, it was blue chassis previously. I have found some blue here and there. The yellow is wrong also, used to be that "buff" yellow color. Funny thing. When I bought this tractor, it kind of reminded me of a tractor at my best friend's apple orchard. I half grew up with David on his parent's orchard. Ran into his brother Simeon the other day and told him I bought a 3400, my first tractor. He confirmed that was indeed the model that we grew up with on the orchard. Maybe someday I will repaint it in the original colors for nostalgia's sake, even though the paint is in pretty good shape right now. s19438, I got the chains from t i r e chain . com (take out the spaces). I just punched in my tire size, which is 13.6 x 28 on the website. I believe they are located in Pennsylvania. These cost me about $260 including shipping, which was the best price I found. Tractor supply was $380 plus tax, and a local maker in my area wanted $320. Of course, these are made in China.
