Replacing rods and main bearings on 1962 641

Welcome to the forum! Rods, yes! Mains, probably! However, I'll defer to someone with more experience on the mains.

If you are just replacing bearings (rods & mains), that can be done by just removing the pan. If you are replacing the rear main seal, it's been done with just the pan removed. If I were doing it, the engine would be pulled an crankshaft removed ,And I would use the two peace lip seal. The rope seal, made nowa days is is a peace of junk, in my humble opinion.

Yes it can be done but. If you are doing it because you have a knock then your only throwing good money after bad since the crank will need to be turned or you will just have to do it again. 90% of the time your better off to pull the engine and have the crank checked and all then replace the parts other wise you stand a good chance that your only doing a stop gap fix that will come back and bite you on the but later
