Questions!
This may have been asked lots of times!
1. Can I build up my damaged engine from my 1968 Ford 3000 diesel to a late 201 specification engine for the 555 TLB?
How much room is in the cylinders for sleeves if I bored and sleeved it to 4.4?
2. Can I bore the old style frost plug(s) out and machine to the new style frost plugs so I can use the common frost plug heater?

The 3600 motor I bought for $600 has been damaged by an electrical fire so I have to do some cleaning before I can post the engine numbers.
I'll get that done when I get back home about month end.

2) Yes but not practical. They do sell a frost plug heater for the old screw in style.
But a 3600 would have the new style yes? Or what am I missing here.

The engine going in the 3000 is from a 3600 with an engine fire, I'm thinking of re-building the old 3000 engine to install in the 555 TLB. I would like to give the old girl some much needed HP, but it's too bad I can't bore it to 4.4.
I do know where there is a newer 201 that needs re-build.

I'm kinda hi-jacking the post but it's concerning the same models. I have a 67 3000 that runs good. I also have a 3600 that the engine was reworked at a shop but not put back together.Will the 3600 trans(4 speed hi/lo)and rear end (with diff lock)bolt up to the 3000 engine? The 3000 is geared to high for me.Thanks.
 
Danny P. - The 3600 rear end should bolt up to the 3000 engine and front end, but you should replace the flywheel & clutch on the 3000 engine with the ones from the 3600 engine to make sure that the transmission input shaft from the 3600 rear end mates up properly. You'll probably want to move the 3600 engine mounted hydraulic pump to the 3000 as well, as the hydraulic pump was one of the major upgrades from the 3000 series to the 3600 series.
