Kinda new to the Ford tractors , especially the little ones ; I found a Ford 2000 1964 model , the rounded sheet metal style ; this one needs a clutch , do they have the 2 stage clutch , if so , how does that work ?? This one is a 6 volt model , can they be changed to 12 volts easily >??? Also how valuable are they ?? This one needs paint , not many leaks but just dull paint ; thanks alot

Ordinary 2000 Prior is worth in the $3-$3.5K range here. Fair tires, tin, etc.
You could look on the flat spot on the tranny - just above and behind the starter - for the serial number and post it here.
All of them had live hyds but not all had live pto.
I'd have to pay a lot less for one with a bad clutch. Though the job isn't hard to do.
Dual/lpto clutch is pricey though. With front tranny seals, dual PP and all you'd have $500 in it.
They are very good, very handy machines.

If it is a 5 speed it most likely has 2 stage clutch. I have one just like you are describing. Turned down 3 grand for it last week. Why would you change it to 12 V? Mine starts very easy, hot or cold.2 stage clutch is kindly self explanatory. Two clutch discs and 2 pressures plates in the same housing. Half way down on the pedal stops the wheels and all the way down stops the PTO. They were good little tractors and the last of the series before the 3 cyls came out.

Ultradog I have converted dozens and dozens of tractors of all brands to 12V. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have a 1952 8N sidemount that looks like the day it rolled off the showroom and the 2000 that are both still six volt systems. They start in any weather, still charge and all the lights work,so tell me why would I spend the money to change them over at this point? I not into making the parts stores rich for no reason.I have 4 other tractors that have been converted. If and when he time comes to convert the others I will, but not just for the sake of conversion.

If it has the 4-speed, it's a single clutch/non-live PTO. If it has the 5-speed, it has the dual clutch/ live PTO.

I agree with the "if it aint broke, don't fix it."
So now it comes down to what do you consider broke?
If I had a bad 6V battery I would consider the whole system broke and start with a new Wally World 12V battery and Napa 10si alternator.
I can build brackets in my sleep.
When you are done you haven't stuck any more $ into it than the price of a 6V battery.
But then it will match your camper, boat, 4 wheeler, hot rod or whatever else you own.

Be careful that it doesn't have a 10 speed in it, if it does it's a select-o-speed and it'll need more than a clutch, mostly because it doesn't have one.
