4000 industrial??

I'd say it's a pre-1965 4000 industrial (4 cylinder) with what looks to me like a 730 loader. Somewhere in the 1962-1964 range. Someone else with more knowledge of those tractors can probably say more.

I think so, based on the parts diagrams from Messicks:

but I don't own one so don't take my word for it 100%. It's definitely not the same rear end as the 65+ 4000's had, if that's what you're thinking about. But it does look consistent with the parts manuals from that time period, and the hood and gauges etc. match as well from what I know.

Hope this helps -
Greg

That is correct- it's a '62-'64 4000 Light Industrial which is basically an Ag Tractor with a one piece front axle. The Heavy Duty Industrial had the heavy cast iron nose.

Still learning about these old industrials...
What is the lever to the left of the steering wheel? Part of the shuttle shift he describes? Not that familiar with a shuttle on the old ones.

Thanks

Beats me. I'm still trying to learn something about the thousand sereis machines. When I left home for the military, the newest thing we had was a 640.

That's a Sherman Reversing Transmission lever. Made the tractor switch between 4 forward/ 1 reverse and 4 reverse /1 forward. Also made the PTO go backwards. (handy for a post hole digger, but not too much else)
