I started running a 501 sickle bar this fall on my '79 3600 dsl 8 spd, and it made the pto seal start to leak, it leaves a puddle in the barn after a few days. I have pulled the pto on '49 8n, but never on this model. is it similar? any tips or suggestions are appreciated. don't have the manual.

It's about the same procedure as an N.
Only difference is make sure you engage the pto handle before you pull the shaft.
If you don't, the sliding coupler where the pto shaft engages to the tranny will fall down and out of place. Then you'll have to remove the pto handle and reinstall the coupler. No big deal but a step you can avoid if you remember to engage the handle.
