a friend dumped his 5000 d off at my house to change fuel filters welp its a simms style pump with twin filters i changed the filters and pulled the little pump handle a bunch of times it fired right up ran for few seconds then died i have fuel to the little transfer pump i have fuel out of the filter everytine i pull the little pump handle wont start. will run on starting fluid ive cracked the lines nuthin not even a dribble of fuel im imssing something i just dont know what sure could use a little help thanks

I"m not familiar with the 5000 but you bleed the fuel system pretty much the same for all diesels. Open the tank valve and the bleeder screw on the first filter and when bubble free fuel comes out of the bleeder close it and repeat on the other filter. Is there a bleeder screw on the pump? If there is bleed that then open the fitting at the injector furthest from the pump. Make sure all the fuel fittings are tight (don"t want to suck in any air), and your battery is well charged and then crank until you see fuel at the injector fitting. Then tighten the fitting.Repeat at each injector. By the time you get to the last fitting, the engine will usually start.

if it's got a straight gear tranny ( NOT an SOS ).. chain her to a truck or another tractor.. get another driver and just pull start her. she will eventually bleed and fire.

saves wear onthe battery and starter..

On the top of the pump there is a 7/16 bleeder screw like on the filter housing. just pump the air out of that one and you should be good. No need to tow or crack injector lines.

Simms in line 4 cylinder pump!!The four injector lines come directly off of the top.Directly on the side just below the injestor lines are 2 bleed screws.Grab a 1/2 inch wrench, or is it 7/16, can't remember. Anyway open them up one at a time and pump the little hand pump until you get raw fuel.Almost guarntee it will start

thanks everyone i got it we hooked her up and drug it about a half mile it finally started

yep. that's the no fuss way to do it.. on any manual machine that is giving you fits to bleed.

just drag them till they bang off.
